Please get in touch to arrange a retreat for your team $NZ POA

This unique leadership retreat will have you coming away with the skills that will help you RIDE to the top of your game! This program is specifically designed to take you to the edge of your comfort zone to help you become self-aware as a leader through workshops in and out of the forest. We will give you the skills – both in leadership and mountain biking – to help you develop yourself into a stronger leader.

This program is based on the latest contemporary leadership theory, science and adapted to the lifestyle (mountain biking) that we love as New Zealanders. By learning more about yourself, how you react under pressure, and your ability to learn and adapt, we will have you coming out of this retreat with a clear set of goals and strategies to help your leadership in the workplace.

DAY 1

Arrive Welcome Ride

You will arrive by 2 pm so that we can get together for a coffee. We will be off for a ride to go and check out the trails and give ourselves a base level to work from and to level the playing field. This is the prime opportunity to get to know your fellow participants and you’ll be developing your resilience and performing under pressure skills.

You will spend your time on the more local and accessible tracks. There’s a little something for everyone in Rotorua’s Redwood Forest. The dirt here holds together better than anywhere in the world, and the area is packed with everything from tight and technical to flowy smooth fun. Whakarewarewa Forest is quite possibly one of the most amazing trail networks in the world and we will just be scratching the surface.

DAY 2

Performance Skills

We’ll start the morning off with a full-spread breakfast for you to help yourself to, and then kick into things with a leadership workshop. Following the theory we will work on some skills on the bikes.

Building resilience to enhance performance!

In this session, you will learn how to lift your game when the pressure comes on. You will learn how to build your resilience through a science-backed process. The theory session utilises the forest and mountain biking to put the building resilience to enhance performance theory immediately into practice. You will learn to reflect on your performance and apply your learnings the very next day. This process originates through research and application from defence forces and high-performance sports teams.

Some of the topics that will be covered are –

  • Basic brain anatomy
  • Stress, good and bad.
  • Resilience developmental cycle
  • Science-based techniques to overcome the pressure and allow you to still perform to a high level.

Lunch ready and waiting before heading out into the forest for a 3-hour lesson.

This is where we start to get the chance to put some of what we are learning about how our brain operates into action by building on our existing mountain biking skills. We will find gaps in our riding and make improvements where we can to help us have more control and be more efficient on the bike.

We will make recommendations for local places to eat to sample some of Rotorua’s local cuisine.
